8 tips to help supercharge summer deliveries.

Share

Summer is about to swoop in, making this the perfect time to get ahead of those hot money-making opportunities. With the masses heading outdoors more often, adding more flavour to the delivery side of your business can help it thrive.

  1. School’s out, lunch delivery is in.

With the kids home from school for the summer, it’s a great opportunity to lure in more lunch orders. Why not give parents a hand and offer some kid-friendly menu items or family lunch specials on your delivery menu? For example, you could create your restaurant’s own version of a lunchbox with a sampling of kid-friendly fare or a full family lunch bundle with drinks and sides included.

  1. Crank up your cocktail menu.

To entice more people to order delivery in the summer months, drink kits are the perfect way to spice things up. You could offer special DIY summer drink kits that are only available through delivery or takeout. Create your own bespoke cocktail or two using seasonal ingredients and a personal touch to encourage a little alcohol stacking (here’s a handy guide on how to do it) and increase your order volume.

  1. Holler to the night owls.

Late-night snacking is trending up, with studies showing a 7.5% uptick in Q2 year over year. That makes for the perfect profit-pulling opportunity for restaurants, grocery stores, and convenience stores. To tap into this growing market, consider adding a “midnight munchies” snack pack to the delivery menu or a late-night crave combo with a meal, drink, and dessert at a discounted price if ordered after 11pm.

  1. Pack in the promos.

With summer sizzling, it’s a great time to throw in a tasty deal to entice new customers and encourage regulars to order more. What better way to do that than to give them something for free, like a fruity seasonal dessert special? The Free Item promo has your back (get the scoop on all Skip promos and how to add them.

  1. Supercharge your socials.

A whopping 93% of consumers are doing their homework by researching restaurants online before they make their move. An active social presence complete with recent pics of your food, drinks and general vibe go a long way in helping people pick your place over the others. Here’s some more pointers on how to up your social media game.

  1. Lighten up.

Summer is the time when lighter fare rules. Offer a couple of healthier summer versions of dishes you normally serve or add a couple of new ones to the mix, like a grilled veggie salad with seasonal ingredients or a bun-less burger with corn on the cob. You could also offer DIY meal kits for summer grilling so they can enjoy their lighter meal in the comfort of their own backyard.

  1. Pack them a pic-a-nic basket.

When it comes to bundles, it’s all about the way you put them together. Step outside the standard and position bundles as picnic packages to encourage customers to grab their takeout or delivery and enjoy it outside. Not only does it give you a creative way to serve your offerings, but you’ll be also encouraging customers to get out there and enjoy the great outdoors (with your food!).

  1.  Give them the loyal treatment.

Show your regulars some love and a reason to keep coming back for more with a little loyalty program. It doesn’t have to be complicated, it could be as simple as offering them a free meal for every 5 delivery orders. Or you could give them a discount on their next purchase when they refer a friend on social.

We hope these helped give you some ideas on how you can drive up delivery in those sweet summer months. Until next time!
