6 tips to get you ready for moms, dads, and grads.

It’s celebration season! That time of year right before summer when all the good stuff starts happening — Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, great Canadian holidays, and graduations galore. And where there are celebrations to be had, there is money to be made.

  1. Pique their interest with promos.

Did you know 40% of adults go to or order from a restaurant as part of their Mother’s Day meal? Just think of the possibilities, like offering a special family meal bundle for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. Offering 2024 grads 24% off their meal. Giving away something free, like a dessert special (this one also works for delivery — here’s how to get the Free Item promo going). Whatever you can do to give potential customers just a little more for these special moments, the better it’ll be for business.

  1. Do it up in delivery.

Speaking of promos, they don’t just work for the dine-in customers. Many moms and dads like to kick back and relax at home with the family on their big day — this is where your delivery side can shine. Get in on the action by offering promos that stand out, like an “Appreciate You” three-course meal package that comes with flowers, dessert, and champagne. Or maybe a “Smart Cookie” special where you offer complimentary freshly baked cookies to recent grads during the months of May and June. This is also the perfect opportunity to use the tools you already have at your disposal with Skip, like the $0 Delivery promo (find out how in that article we just mentioned above!).

  1. Get ’em in with gift cards.

Gift cards certainly have their moment around the festive holidays, but there is a second spike that happens right around the “moms, dads, and grads” period. In fact, 31% of grad gifts are in the form of a gift card, so if you don’t offer them already, now would be a great time to start. You could even gift a couple of lucky moms or dads on their day with a gift card to use on their next visit.

  1. Serve up drink specials and special drinks.

Everyone loves a good cocktail, especially when it’s named after them (we’re lookin’ at you, dads). The best part is, it’s fun for the guests and incredibly easy to implement. Simply create a special cocktail for the day, like the Mom-osa, Strawberry Dad-quiri, or Dipaloma (Diploma, Paloma, get it?). Then, offer it at a special price (or even give the first one free to whoever’s celebrating) and boom — you’ve got yourself a sweet drink promo. And there’s no reason the folks at home can’t get in on the action. Consider turning those cocktails into DIY drink kits to benefit the delivery side of your business on those special occasions.

  1. Say it loud. Say it proud.

No matter what you decide to do to ring in celebration season, make sure you make it known. Splash it up on your socials (pssst…here’s some social media marketing tips). Spread the word on your website. Drop flyers in delivery bags. Plan ahead and get the message out well before these special occasions so you can already be on customers’ minds when they’re planning what to do for those big days.

  1. Grocers, start your engines.

The restaurant industry isn’t the only one that gets to jump on the celebration train. Flowers, alcohol, and candy are also a big part of the top spending category for Mother’s Day. And since we know there are a lot of last-minute gift grabbers, this is one category you can be a big help with. Offer flower and candy promos, discount promo codes, or just throw in a little something for free. Remember, a little goes a long way in this business.

Ta-da! Now, it’s time to take these ideas and celebrate celebration season the way it was meant to be celebrated.
