Highlights from the 2022 RC Show.

From May 9-11, 2022, Skip sponsored Canada’s largest foodservice event of the year at the Restaurants Canada Show. The show itself was jam-packed with over 250 speakers across 5 different stages, 8 curated pavilions, 6 competitions, and 4 networking events. It was a grand welcome back to the industry supporting it’s revival (which happened to be this year’s theme). So how did Skip represent at the show? Read on to find out.

Team Skip.
Because we’re proud of our partnership with the NHL and what it means to work together as a team, we thought we’d look the part, too. So, in personalized Skip jerseys, our reps were ready to team up and rally new partners. We also wanted to send the message that with Skip as your trusted partner, you’ll be part of a winning team of Canadians that will give you revenue-generating ideas, dedicated support, and exclusive access to programs, perks, and promotions that will grow your business.

Where do stellar-looking hockey players belong? On the rink, of course. So that’s just what we did. The booth itself was made to look just like a hockey rink, complete with a scoreboard on top. We also had meet and greets set up inside the booth with hockey greats, Wendel Clark and Marie-Philip Poulin. And we’re proud to say that the RC Show awarded our efforts with Best Booth at the Show!

No Skip booth experience would be complete without the chance to win some great prizes. Visitors were invited into the booth to play our digital Skippy the Puck game for an opportunity to win cool Skip swag.

As a sponsor, we were fortunate to host some incredibly enlightening panels and events discussing the latest trends, how to use digital marketing to your advantage, the future of the industry, and more. Here a couple of the standouts:

State Of The Bar: Insights, Research, Trends
Steve Puchala, SVP of Growth and Restaurant Success at Skip, opened up the panel and set the stage for industry leaders and experts to speak about the current state of the Bar and Beverage Industry, including consumer trends and insights. Matthew Crompton (Client Solutions Director, CGA Strategy) and Mitch Stefani (Client Solutions Manager, CGA Strategy) discussed the shift in consumer buying patterns that occurred during this pandemic, how expectations and experiences within the bar and beverage space have changed, and what today’s consumer hopes to find when making a decision to purchase a beverage.

How To Leverage Digital Marketing Channels To Feed Your Business
In this informative talk, we heard from representatives Peter Hand (Brand Strategy Lead for Google in North America), Christina Kavalauskas (Strategy Director for Creative Lab at TikTok), and Mukul Goyal (Client Partner with Meta). The main focus of this panel was a lesson on how to effectively use and optimize their platforms to generate revenue for your business.

Breakfast With Champions
This must-attend annual power breakfast event is where industry leaders gather to gain data-driven insights, the latest trends, research, inspiration and exclusive knowledge from industry innovators and world-class speakers. The goal was to give these leaders and their teams the tools they need to innovate and emerge successfully from this period of chaos and change. For those who couldn’t attend the live event, Skip provided the next best thing to virtual attendees—vouchers for a complimentary breakfast while they caught the live show online. 

Industry Night Out
This widely anticipated event is where hospitality professionals come together for the ultimate networking experience. This year’s get-together was located at Bar Mordecai in Toronto’s swanky west end. During the event, Skip couriers delivered North of Brooklyn pizza to happy attendees.

All in all, an incredible experience made even better by the chance to see everyone face-to-face again. And after everything we experienced at the show, we’re confident it’s going to be an exciting year for the restaurant industry.
