We’re celebrating 10 years of Skip and to kick off the celebration, we want to thank all the local restaurants, small businesses, and organizations who have helped us along the way.

And for the cherry on top of an amazing milestone? We’ve randomly selected and gifted 10 of our long-term Partners across Canada with $1000 to show our appreciation for their support over the years, and we want to share their inspiring stories.  Let’s meet our 10 winners.

PADMANADI, 101 St., Edmonton.

8 years with Skip

In its 20 years, Padmanadi has been frequently voted the best vegan restaurant in Edmonton and has been a great Partner to Skip for the last 8 years. They have two locations serving up Indonesian, Chinese, Thai, and Indian plant-based dishes. Founded by Kasim in November 2002, this family-based restaurant (third generation) is a staple of the community with its delicious food and support for local charities.

MATADOR PIZZA, Varsity Dr. NW, Calgary.

8 years with Skip

Since 1976, Matador Pizza has been known in the community for using local ingredients and homemade recipes. Everything from the pepperoni and salami to the mushrooms and cheese are all sourced in Alberta. Matador originally opened in 1976, but Jason, the owner, didn’t buy it until 2008. Since Jason took ownership in 2008, the restaurant has undergone three expansions while still making the same Greek-style ciabatta pizza crusts for over 25 years. Matador Pizza is a must-visit, as they always ensure the satisfaction of guests by maintaining the same freshness and quality over the years.

SUKHOTHAI, Osborne St., Winnipeg.

7 years with Skip

Sukhothai is a family-owned restaurant that offers the residents of Winnipeg authentic Thai cuisine. The parents of owners Melinda and Vaneda immigrated to Canada to build a life, and raise a family. They worked hard, while saving money for their daughters to go to university, but instead, the sisters convinced their parents to let them skip school and open a restaurant.

As one of Winnipeg’s best restaurants for Thai food, they are dedicated to serving guests fresh meals, flavoured with a variety of traditional spices and sauces. Through their partnership with Skip, they were able to open up their incredible selection of traditional and modern Thai cuisine to a younger generation on the platform while maintaining their authentic approach to cooking.

SHER-E-PUNJAB, Danforth Ave., Toronto.

Sher-E-Punjab, owned by Jaspal, has been serving fine Indian cuisine to the Danforth community in Toronto since his parents opened the restaurant in 1975. SPICEX, Malta St., St. Johns.

2.4 years with Skip

SpiceX was founded by Mithun, who’s passionate about bringing the flavours of India to his new home in Canada. After exploring different career paths, from a technician to a food truck owner, Mithun opened SpiceX by offering spices and other goods in St. Johns, Newfoundland. With the support of the community and a partnership with Skip, he managed to share the love of food and culture and connect with his customers.
